Dead Cylinder
Dead Cylinder
Took the pig to the track today. Ran a best of 13.27@102. Alot slower than she usually runs. Got to playing with an infared heat gun and found #5 cylinder running over 200 degrees cooler than the rest of the cylinders. Pulled the plug and it is gas soaked like it is not firing. re-gapped it and still no help. Got home and pulled the valve cover and checked the beehive springs and rockers to make sure they were alright. Everything looks good. Pulled the MSD plug wire and ohmed it. It has 78 ohms across it which is good as for it is 24'' long. Any ideas on what it could be? Shoebox please help.

Either check compression or assume it's ok.
If that's the case, you have a spark issue. Did you check the cylinder for spark? What about swapping in a different plug and wire and check for spark?
If you then observe the loss of spark at that cylinder, only thing it could be is the cap on the opti.
