Day of free mods

Well today was my first day off in 6 so I decided to play with my car. I am broke till friday so I looked up all the free mods this morning and set off to my Dads machine shop.

I relocated my icm, well more like spaced it out 3/4 inch from the head by using washers.

I took off all the emissions stuff that was connected to my headers that was used for the air pump that was already taken off. This cleaned up the engine bay a lot.

I did the throttle body bypass, which was very easy. 2 pipe clamps and a valve guide that I wittled down on the lathe.

Last and the biggest PITA was getting rid of the egr, its so hard to get a wrench back there with my big hands and then blindly loosening the nuts. I fabricated my own block off plates which took about 30 minutes out of aluminum. I silaconed the hell out of everything and used the original gaskets.

For some reason now my exaust sounds a little meaner, well lower toned. Car seems to drive about the same.

Fun stuff -AZ28

Relaxing isnt it?
Even with the setbacks and frustration I love working on my car.
Whenever life starts to suck too bad I go out to the garage and play with my car, spinning wrenches just seems to relax me.

I did my Fuel filter today and removed the rear abs sensor for the first time in 140k miles... it was sooooo easy.. I cleaned all the metal particles attached to it and put it right back in less than 3 minutes. I Put a dab of grease where the spring meets the Transaxle... easiest thing to lift that spring with the OEM supplied wrench for the jackstand.. no sweat..

The fuel filter has been there for 4 years!! it was begining to rust. Now its got a shiny one...

Tomorrow I may grease all the sway bar bushings its just soo relaxing
