Question dance party at my garage! plug boot acting like a strobe light!

alright, i started her up thursday night after cam install and the number 7 is arcing really bad right at the spark plug by the head. i haven't been back to the garage yet to pull it off and inspect it. what causes arcing like that?
thanks,
Michael

anyone?
i removed the boot and cleaned the spark plut itself (perhaps i had some never-seize on my fingers when i tightened it). i started the car up again and it still arced just a little bit right around the plug. i do have a factory heat shield on that wire boot and it's right up against the header primary, but i don't see how that could have anything to do with it.
i'd appreciate any help. and on a side note, the car sounds MEAN with this cam in it!!!
thanks,
Michael

Sounds like a bad boot to me. If it's right against the header primary, you might consider trimming the boot to make it slightly shorter. I do that to my number 6 plug boot because it contacts the primary if I don't and it will kill the wire.

i just went out and removed the aluminum boot shield from the boot and restarted the car....absolutely no arcing now. aparently it doesn't like the metal boot heat shield so i've got to find a better way to protect my boot. i'd say i have about 1/2" between my boot and my header...is that close enough that it will burn it?
