D-shaped or Round-shaped heads?

The guys at the auto part store told me that the Felpro1406 is the wrong one because the stock heads should be round not d-shaped. But My pacesetter headers that I'm working on installing are d-shaped. But I havent' finished taking off the manifolds yet to see the shape of the ports on the stock heads.
Any thoughts?

You should know better than to listen to those guys. A guy I know that used to work at Advance Auto said that when they hire people, they would hire someone with less experience over someone who knew a little bit.

Their jobs are to sell parts, not know anything important.

Your heads have d-shaped ports btw

Thats sad, but very believable. You always have to remember the #1 rule about autozone... the employees VERY rarely know what they are talking about.

Re: D-shaped or Round-shaped heads?

I gave up on getting info from chain parts stores...

I recently went looking for some foil heat wrap tape to put around a few wires running near my headers and the guy had no idea what I was talking about. He finally led me to the regular electrical tape, and I again explained what I needed and why. He said "OH, you need HIGH PERFORMANCE tape"...and took me over to the neon, chrome, and colored ty-rap section and was kind enough to locate a roll of BLUE electrical tape for me....

1406 is the correct p/n. All I'll ever use. I do agree though, dont listen to anyone in a parts store ESPECIALLY about the LT1. There is no one unless they have one that works at one of those stores who knows anything about it.

Re: D-shaped or Round-shaped heads?

I had one guy at AutoZone tell me a 160 thermostat was a waste and that it would cut my fuel economy in half. I quietly walked out. At another AutoZone, I told them I needed a colder plug(wasn't sure of part #). I then had to explain what they were for and he kind of smart assed suggested I used better gas. I told him I didn't want to pay for anything over 93 octane in the same tone he used

Idiots.
