"D" Port headers

Anyone know if headers designed for D port heads (LT1, ZZ4 etc) will work on my 94 iron head LT1 for my 68 Camaro? Looking for shorty style.

The "D" port design has been around forever and is not exclusively for late model engines. What port is on your cylinder head?

You want the header a little bigger than the head port. You don't need the D shape headers, any of them will work o.k.

Just get a gasket that will work probly fel-pro 1406 and a 1 3/4 header will do fine

Thanks for the replys. My only concern is 1 3/4 inch headers may hit my steering box. I dont really want to pay $572 for S$P LT1 shorty headers. The quest continues......

Why do you want shorty style?

My Kooks long-tube LT headers have the D-ports on the flange.

Buy smallblock headers for the chassis, forget the fact it is an LT1.

Fair number of b-body guys use headers meant for 2nd gen Camaros, point being smallblock headers are what you need and worrying about matching the LT1 d-port is needlessly complicating a simple parts search.

I've seen pics on the internet of LT1's with regular headers and it looks like the top portion of the headers does not quite cover the entire exhaust port. I want shorties for the 02 bungs for the collectors. This pic is of Hedman 1 5/8 primaries
