cyl. 8 plug

Well... 7 out of 8 isn't bad. Any way to get at the 8th cylinder plug? BTW, I have fat arms...

Re: cyl. 8 plug

Get Mac midlengths!

Seriously though, from the bottom would most likely be your best bet. If you have one of those cut down plug sockets, that might help too.

Ah ha! Skinny kid from the top was the answer! Lol. Only way to get at it from the bottom would be to drop the Y pipe, even with the skinny kid.

I guess it is good to have a skinny kid in the tool box.

Re: cyl. 8 plug

ahh, I'm a skinny kid.........anyone wanna buy me, and I will wait patiently in your garage until I am needed

Seriously though, I couldnt even get it from the top, couldnt get any leverage. I ended up cutting the pipe away at the bottom (during header install) to get to it.

Re: cyl. 8 plug

I got it from the bottom just by unbolting the starter and laying it on the frame.

Re: cyl. 8 plug

I use a reversible ratcheting wrench with a spark plug socket - a little force and i'm able to get the plug socket over the plug. Just ratchet it out of there (with the wrench) and BOOM .... plug is out

then again i have skinny hands/arms (VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY helpful on a fbody)

Re: cyl. 8 plug

My arms aren't very skinny and I recall no problems with number 8....number 2 was my worst, and that became mo problem once I got a ratcheting box wrench... Maybe I just blocked that portion out of my head....

**I know I have headers, but I removed all the plugs BEFORE removing any of the old exhaust components**

Re: cyl. 8 plug

I take the starter out. After that, you've got plenty of room to reach up in there and get to it.
