cutting out at hi RPM

car has started cutting out at high RPM (around 5500-6000) pulls like crazy untill then but as soon as it reaches there it starts cutting out.. at first it felt like little misses nothing big but now its really missing... last nite I was racing an 06 stang (kicked his *** by the way ) but I was having to short shift when it would start missing.. it doesnt feel like the opti becuase it does not do it at low RPM like it did last time it went out.. but I am thinking its spark related because when it starts doing it I can smell fuel.. could it be the coil craping out on me??

I had similar problems, I did a LT4 km, new coil and that didnt help. For me it turned out to be a rusted out coil wire

Re: cutting out at hi RPM

I still have a very slight miss or stumble around 5000K RPM.

When it first started it was severe, I replaced the OEM coil with an Autozone coil and it was gone. I then started thinking the Autozone coil was crap and bought the MSD coil.

A while later I noticed a very slight stumble again at 5500 RPM. I really dont see how it could be the MSD coil, I even checked all grounds and connections.

I checked the fuel pressure and it checked out at idle conditions hose on and off the regulator, I cant check it and drive unfortunately.

People seem to swear its the opti which I will replace when I do the H&C this winter.

Ya mines been being a bitch at higher RPMS. sometimes it shifts perfect. actully i just took it out 10 min ago to test it and it ran good. 2 out of 3 times it went perfect then the last time it was a bunch of slight misfires right around the redline. But just about 2-3 hrs ago it was horrible misfires. Sounded like damn fireworks. It was not so bad untill i put gas in it though. I got it from a different gas station this time so it could be the problem.

Mine was the opti cap and rotor, Seems just like all caps and rotors they need to be changed out normaly.

I know they are suposted to last 100,000 mile, and might not notice how bad it is if your car is stock. But with cams and shifting at higher RPM's i think the opti gets beat on pretty bad.

I still have a small miss but i am pretty sure it is the wires now, then used opti i put on cleared up 80% of my problem.

IF you can i would try and borrow/swapp someones on and see if it works
