Cutting hole in Ram Air hood?
Cutting hole in Ram Air hood?
I have the WS6 hood for my 95 TA and I just received the airbox today. I will be installing it this week sometime and I will have to cut the bottom side of the hood in order to make it fuctional.
It is an aftermarket hood, but there is a line on the underside of the hood showing where it needs to be cut. My question is, how should I cut this? There is maybe 1/4" clearance at the most before you cut through the top of the hood.
What should I cut it with? Dremel cut off discs? Rotary tool? Utility knife? All help is appreciated.

I work with composites for a living and we use diamond tipped blades for almost everything. If you had more clearance you could use a grit jigsaw blade.
You should use a cutoff wheel, but something more substantial than a dremel will make it a lot easier. See if you can borrow a die grinder, I don't think the dremel wheels will last very long. My only other advice is work slowly to avoid melting the resin. Cut the line fat and sand to it with 80 to 180 grit sandpaper.
Good luck

I agree with Ryan. I would use a cut off wheel. While the diamond would be the best, this is your best alternative. The dremel probably wouldn't hold up, so I would suggest one that goes on a drill. You can buy these at lowes or home depot. Just be carefull and go slow. Good luck!
