Cutouts on the Z

The other day I took my car into a muffler shop and had them look under my car to see how possible an exhaust cutout is. I showed him where I would like it (the gap under the rear passenger side seat). The muffler guy took a look at it and kinda showed me where, if he put a cutout, it would go. He showed me that it would dump out right infront of the rear tire... (?!) and said that with these cars ground clearance would be a big issue on my car. Its not lowered or anything! Is he smoking crack or can the cutout just be a "lot" shorter and pointed downwards? How big are these ones you can buy online? They seem quite a lot shorter than what he showed (a good foot long pipe right to the side!)

keep in mind the close to the engine u dump the exh, the more of an effect it will have on flow / hp

im goin with true duals and im gonna have 2 cutouts right on my collectors, then 2 mufflers, then X pipe, then exit out the side...

I have my cutout exactly where you are planning to put yours. Before I got my headers ground clearance wasn't really an issue, but now the y-pipe makes the cutout hang a little lower and every once in a while I scrape it on something.

yest. i got my second cutout installed. on my 95Z i bought the cuout online, and had it welded after the cat. after a while i got kind of tired of all the vibrations. on my 94Z i decided to do something a little different. instead of buying the cutout i just brought the car to the local shop and had them fabricate something for me. its called the "ZED" style, and the cutout is actually after the rear axle, right before the pipe enters the muffler. and i def. like it MUCH better!! the car is still loud as hell, but the sound comes out the back of your car, and NO vibrations! and only cost me $60!!
