cutout question

ok i ordered this cutout (the kind with the cable) and it came in and was only for a 2" pipe... so now i gotta get a piece of 2" pipe and weld it into my exhaust to put the cutout in...

but i was wondering if the 2" piece would hurt my performance while the cutout was closed.....

also, when i close the cutout i can see light coming around the valve... how bad of an exhaust leak would this cause? would it be very noticeable?

You are going to do somthing dumb if you restrict your exhaust to a 2 inch. You should make it a 3 inch cut out and 3 inch pipe all the way back.

I haven't heard anything good about those cable cutouts. As you noticed, it doesn't exactly provide the best seal when the cutout is closed. Plus the fact that it's only a 2" cutout makes it worse. I'd say either get an electric cutout or one you have to crawl under the car to use, just make sure it's 3".
