cutout installed! also fuel pump question

purchased 3" cutout from summit and had it welded in. i opened it up and drove with it open for two days. driving for more than five minutes was too much for my ears to handle. the car sounds sooooo wicked but it is very, very loud. unfortunately i started getting a headache after driving twenty five minutes to work so i plugged it back up. funny thing is my butt dyno didn't feel any increase in power, although while cruising in sixth gear it seemed more responsive to throttle input. anyways good mod i suppose, i guess i'm not really sure, i want it open all the time but i can't handle the noise as a daily driver. oh well.

Fuel pump: i have no carpet or sound deadening in the hatch area because i want to replace it. the fuel pump whine is sooo f!*king annoying. will a new pump be quieter? also, where is a good place to buy sound deadening material. in the summit catalog they have dynamat or something like that in the stereo section, is that for keeping sound in or out of the car?
thanks for any input!!

Butt dyno's are useless Mine always ran about 1mph better at the track with it open. Then again i have the CrapMaster muffler. My cutout is right before the rear end, underneath the rear seat.

My fuel pump never made a ton of noise, but when it was replaced by a walbro it was even quieter. You can barely hear it when you turn the key to run and let it prime.

As for the dynomat, the stuff works pretty well. Biggest thing is that it keeps metal from resonating sounds. It not only keeps audio/vocal sound in the car, but it also keeps road noise out.

Be warned however, the stuff is mego expensive and weighs like sheets of lead. To coat your entire car i wouldnt be surprised to add at least 75lbs of weight. Also, i perfer the dynomat extreme over the standard stuff. A little more pricey, but it works much better.

i put the cutout after the cat, but before the rear axle, pretty much the same place as everyone else that i've seen pictures of. i will probably order some dynamat extreme but just for the hatch area, thanks for the help!

after the cat and before the axle narrows it down to 6feet of the exhaust. if you put it up towards the front no wonder you think it's loud. all that unmuffled noise is reverberating off the ground and resonating in the interior of the car.

i have mine just before the exhaust turns to go over the axle, and i have it open 24-7. and i have had no problems with headachs even on 5 hour road trips.

you'll feel the most power boost at the top end. do a couple 60-120 runs...you'll feel it
