Question cutout and ceramic coating

I have a 1997 camaro SS and i want to run an electric cut out. where do i run the cut out? after the headers or after the y pipe? I was also about to purchase a set of headers. I am looking at the hooker super comp shorty headers. I want to be able to run my catalytic converters. Want are some good ideas? Is it worth getting the headers ceramic coated?

The favored spot to weld the cutout is right before the rear axle. The Hooker shorties are a decent header and you can't go wrong with the MAC mids either. Whatever direction you go, coating is a good idea and worth the extra money.

I agree with the above post, place the cutout high before the rear axle (under the rear seat area).

You would have to run only one cutout, and for the coating you should definantly get it. My stainless steel shorties get way to hot under the hood in meer seconds. I strongly suggest anyone to pay more for the ceramic coating, its worth the extra money.

One will be fine, some people have used two though in the y-pipe to create a sort of "true dual" I guess.

Re: cutout and ceramic coating

so there wouldn't be a noticable difference between running 2 electric cutouts than one?

Lighter wallet? Might sound a little more like a true dual setup.

i want performance w/o breaking the bank! i just don't wanna pay for something that isn't going to be worth it! How much more power will you get from the ceramic coated super comp headers and the electric exhaust cutout?
