Cut Outs

Where do most of yall put yalls cutouts more towards the engine or back by the exhaust? Which would sound best? Anyone got any videos of them with their cutouts open? Just curious

Thanks

Re: Cut Outs

OK...First of all, Y'ALL has an apostrophe . Now about your question. I have MAC headers with my cutout in my ORP. I also have a catyletic converter with identical flanges, and the same length as my ORP. When I need to be "legal", I can throw the cat on in about 20 minutes.

My car sounds like crap with the cutout open, but I can tell you that I've had a .3 second drop in quarter times (back to back) with the cutout closed, and then open. Definitely the cheapest mod ($30) I've ever done to drop .3

Re: Cut Outs

So they sound like crap when there towards the front of the car? How do they sound with LT's and towards the back of the car? I want to run some exhaust, but I want it to be loud when I need it.

Re: Cut Outs

Don't get me wrong....I love the sound of my cutout at WOT and idle.....but anything in between, it sounds like crap. Must be the stock cam.

Re: Cut Outs

eh wont matter once i get my duals. cutouts give some nice proven gains. as far as sound goes, thast's dependent on who's listening

Re: Cut Outs

mine sounds like ... its nasty. i have a hotcam, long tubes, y pipe, and its right after the y pipe. if u give it a lil more gas it rasps, and i hate raspy exhaust. i swear if i floor it, i can break car windows. its that loud. i hate it. not to mention over speedbumps if i dont do it carefully, the cap hits the bump. that is the worst feeling ever.

Re: Cut Outs

my custom cutout cost a total of $40 to make and install. mine is located directly behind where my cat used to be. there's still a lot of interior resonance but I think the sound will be a bit better.

Re: Cut Outs

So usually they sound best when their located about the middle of the car? Cause they are going to be loud no matter what. I heard one car that sounded all bubbly and I didn't like it.

Re: Cut Outs

yeah the farther back you can get it (before the muffler of course) the less resonance you'll have in the cabin.
