It has been debated several times.... (if the low backpressure will hurt your valves) but I know TONS of people running them open all the time without any problems. I know I have done it before until I eventually got tired of it. You'll probably wear out your ears first, then valves, if it's even true.

I really doubt it.
If the popping is on deceleration and/or light throttle, that is normal.

You might notice some creaks for your interior plastic developing from the vibration... which is why I try to close mine as much as possible which is usually less than half the time

you don't get pull over with the cutout open... I would imagine that your car is really really loud!

If you are talking about me, my cutout is right before the muffler so it's no too loud, but on saturday mornings at 6am when I have to go to work I tend to drive my mom or dads car, just so I don't wake up the neighborhood So far I've never had a problem with the cops on th noise but I am going to cap it off (mom's request). So once I get the money I'll be getting a Magnaflow catback as well as a DMH e-cutout which will be right after the cat, won't that be loud

3 years and counting, I only close it for long trips. It's had no ill effects other than I think my hearing has deteriorated a bit.

Leave it open for long trips. You will get better mileage. IF you have an M6, then it will barely be noticable louder.
