Custom low mount setup PS and ALT

Was a bit bored when the engine was on a stand for so long and was looking for another way to clear up the engine bay on my car.

Here is what I ended up coming up with. Made it all just from an idea in my mind.

Starting to have a nice amount of space in the engine bay. So far I have deleted just about as much as I can. Still retaining the AC box since I might want it at a later time in the cars life.

The basic deletes that everyone does and also went with a custom radiator setup that sits it straight up and down with a slimmer fan. Came out nice.
Thinking I am just about done with this venture since there is little left.

In the pics I have to rerun the brake lines now since my new headers throw the primares to close to the lines.

Here is the only decent pic that I have.
You will have to link to the other sight were I have it posted since I do no know how to post pics on this site.

Re: Custom low mount setup PS and ALT

Stock pump with an aftermarket pulley that I machined a bit to fit the pump. They do make pulleys for it but I just went with what was alot cheaper since I would machine it to proper specs for the install.

As for the additional pulley for the pump it was just the same el cheapo pulley that was blank and I machined. Made a locator dowel that slides in the center to make sure it is not out of center.

Everything is nice and clutter free just have to clean up alot of the factory wiring that is not being used or that is just plain ugly. Not a show car or anything but just a daily driver that I like the ease of working on.

how do you have the pulley mounted on the pump? stock is pressed on, but if yours is, I see no way to pull it off if ever needed

Re: Custom low mount setup PS and ALT

The new pulley on the PS pump is pinned and pressed. A bit less of a press versus stock specs since I do not want to destroy it if I ever have to take it off. I used a roll pin as well for added security.

Re: Custom low mount setup PS and ALT

This setup is similar to the bracket kit that Carolina Rod Shop used to make for LT1's. For the life of me I can't figure out why they stopped, because for a mere $450 you basically got a thick aluminum plate that had the cutouts and bolt holes appropriately spaced for the various accessories. Probably cost them $50 to make, if that.

You're right though, it DOES definitely clean up the engine bay alot and make things alot more accessible. It's kind've cool to be able to see those coveted "AFR" logos displayed in full view. Nice work.

I like it!

Now post some part no. for the pulleys and mount plates, so I can do the same. I'd like to have alt. and vacuum pump though.
