Custom exhaust, anyone do something similar?

I've always had to fab my own parts, being a mopar guy. Or else pay an arm and a leg. So I decided instead of spending 300-400+ on an exhaust, I decided to fab up my own. Basically I am adding a pipe after the axle where it bends to go to the muffler. It will be a y, but most will flow straight back, with a slight bend to clear the stock exhaust pipe area. I had an old i-pipe from my 95 ta, and cut off a bend, cut it to fit the stock pipe, with a cutoff wheel. The stock muffler and tailpipes will come off, and I'll be running 3" bullets on each side. Basically it will be like a borla when open, as most exhaust will flow straight out the passenger side, except it will have the bullet to quiet it a little.

Has anyone done anything similar? Running the bullet style ultraflows? I imagine its going to be pretty loud. I'm a little worried it maybe too loud! I've got the pipes cut and test fitted and ready to weld. If anyones interested I could post or send pics.

I've seen someone do that with true duals before. It sounded awesome. The way your doing it is basically a loudmouth but with 2 bullets (which would refine the sound alot) on the end. I think it would sound awesome. Shouldnt rasp cause you got the mufflers on. I dont know how similar it would be but i am running a bullet muffler on each side to but on my true duals and the bullets made the cutout sound like crap at idle and accelerating from idle to 2k rpms.

Its definetly like the loudmouth as thats where I got the idea. I don't think it will flow quite as good, but much better than stock. I also want to hear it! It definetly won't be any louder than my 69 rr with a 446, headers, full 2-1/2 exhaust, but should sound good.

Hehe, then it will probably be quiet to you. I would do it if I were you. I think it will sound sweet. Try to get some soundclips. If it sounds good, i bet alot of Loudmouth guys would like doin it.

I do have turbo mufflers on the rr, does tame it some. Its got a mp 509 lift cam, 292 duration, on paper sounds a little small, but running it sounds as aggressive as the 600 lift solid I had in it. As much as I love a good sounding exhaust, I just love how a good cammed motor sounds.

I'm going to use the 16-1/2" long bullets. Mainly because I want to have some room behind it on the passenger side for tips, just to make it look a little better. I may just go 2-1/2 from the y since I have tons of 2-1/2 pipe laying around. I'm also cutting the i-ppe right above where it bolts on in the back, this way I could swtich back to the stock rear section or this one very easily. When inspections/emissons time comes around.

I have no idea how to do a sound clip. Whatwould I need?

I'm thinking about just putting those dynomax bullets on the intermediate pipe and then chopping off the rear section of the exhaust where it starts to bend upwards. Should be free flowing plus I get weight reduction (flowmasters muffler and tips are heavy). Don't know if I'll lose TQ though since I've still got the cats. Let us know how it goes..

For now it will have a stock cat, but I plan to switch to a high flow cat. For PA inspect/emiss I can't get away with much, or else I'd go with headers and true duals. I'll keep ya guys updated...
