If I were you, id buy a used one, or get a new one for $160~, homemade CAI look awful most of the time. Like said above, they have been done, useing anything from dryer duct, to pvc.

buy a used LS lid, you are going to have to cut up your car to make it fit. But you can get one for $50 used, pick up a filter from LS1speed for 20 and get way better gains. So for $75 bucks all day its not such a bad deal.

The plumber's section at any hardware store (Home Depot, Lowes, etc.) has items to make an inexpensive homemade CAI... Just have to get a generic K&N filter to fit pipe.

I just made one out of 3in exhaust pipe. It was supposed to be mandrel bent but wasn't so it doesn't look great but looks good. I painted it black for now. If I keep the car then I will have one mandrel bent and ceramic coated. I am just waiting on a filter and reducer coupling. I think it will look awesome. I will have about 100 bucks in it but now could make one a bit cheaper prb. I will post pics soon if ya want.
