Dyno Expectations

Just wondering what to expect from getting my car tuned this week. The mods are in my sig. I know that some will say the cam is small but I tried mimmick Lingenfelter's 383 setup. I plan on purchasing headers soon as the money permits.

I have about 1500 miles on the car so far but it just does not feel all that torquey. I have not really mashed on it yet though.

Surprised it does not feel a bit more torquey with such a small cam. Dyno numbers?

I hope they did not dupe me on my camshaft. Could it be that the stall is eating up some of the feel of the torque? I have not had a dyno tune yet, it will happen this week though. Will the tune make that much difference?

If you're running that combo on a stock tune, you should see a major improvement with a dyno tune. The stock manifolds are going to hold it back, though.... mostly at the top end. What size injectors are you running?

Lingenfelter used a small cam because his conversions had to be 49-state emissions certified.

stroked, ported heads, and a small cam for even a stock lt1. Probably why it feels like its "lacking" torque. guessing maybe 360ish rwhp, which could be closer or even a little over 400 with a bigger cam though.

I am still running stock injectors but I ordered some bosch red tops from FIC. I just bought a set of used mac's that I plan on installing before the tune. Well, I still have not got the car dyno tuned but, I raced my buddy in his bone stock 2000 ws6 and he pulled me. I know I don't have a tune yet but I don't think this should have happened even with stock manifolds. I am going contact someone with a dial indicator to see what camshaft is in my motor. How accurate is the dial indicator in determining lift? Maybe they did not put the lingenfelter cam in. I know it is a baby cam for my engine but it still should be in stock LS1 territory. The tune cannot be that far off if the car idles fine and does not run rich right? It does not smell rich nor does it have excess soot in the tail pipes. I really hope they did not dupe me on my cam.

It's not good that a stock LS1 pulled on you with those mods.

I'm actually surprised that it idles and runs fine without some program tuning. I have no experience with a 383, so others with a 383 will be more helpful. Tuning is an issue that needs to be fixed. You also could be maxing out the stock injectors. That may be why it's not as strong as is should be....I see you have them in the works. Fix that and see if that helps. Does it seem to hit a wall in the power on the top end?

I can tell you this....with my setup(I'm on stock exhaust manifolds too)....I am pulling intake and exhaust LT1's hard(2-3 car lengths in the 1/8). I have not had the chance to run a LS1 at the track yet(trying to figure out an oil pressure dip issue before I run it hard).

Ace, it does feel like it hits a wall at about 3500-4000 rpms but it still pulls. I hope that a tune and the injectors solve the issue. I am going to be pissed if I find out that the camshaft that I ordered was not installed.
