Curious about CAGS skip shift

Curious about CAGS skip shift

I've been hearing about skip shift and i still dont understand what exactally is the deal with it. Can anyone tell me about it or give me a link to some information about it.

The skip shift was found on cars from 94' and up. Basically what it does is at a certain RPM and throttle position it will force you to shift from 1st to 4th by closing the gates to 2nd and 3rd. It does this if the car starts from a dead stop, less than 35% throttle and below 2400rpm...(I think). If you pass the certain rpm it will let you shift normally and if you hammer down it will let you shift normally. It is a real pain in the but. I have a skip shift elimnator from SLP on my car. What it does is it tricks the computer into thinking that it has closed the gate in the transmission, when in reality the gate has not been closed and normal shifting can be done. My "skip shift" light still comes on, but I am able to shift normally. It is very easy to install and can be found on the SLP website.
