CSR Waterpump install

I have a freshly coated housing with a brand new CSR pump mounted, and freeze plug installed... 1/2 the battle done... now comes the issue of installation. i have seen the CSR waterpump walkthrough, and its very good, i was just wondering for those of you out there who have installed their own Electric Waterpumps, is there anything you recomend to pay close attention to during the install? i know when i take the WP off the block the opti will get wet, will it possible destroy it? i have heard mixed opinions about that. and i also have heard that there is a coolant bleeder on the block, i just have not been able to locate it, does it drain the excess coolant from the WP so it wil not get on the opti? did you take your fans out during the install? and finally, i also bought a barry grant relay, and was wondering how you each wired your pumps up for power, i have heard of wiring it to an Ign. on wich is what i will probably do, but i want to know if there are more practical ways.

Re: CSR Waterpump install

My opti has gotten wet a few times during pump changes, cam swaps etc without issue. If you want to drain the block of coolant to be extra safe, you can just unscrew the knock sensor on the passenger side of the block.

The thing I would pay the most attention to is the wiring. Every pump problem I have seen is wiring related. Make sure the relay and fuse are far away from engine heat. Solder all your connections. Ign On has always worked for me.
