CSR/CSI Electric Waterpump will not fit.
Re: CSR/CSI Electric Waterpump will not fit.
He isnt talking about where the stock pump needs to be dremeled
out on the edges for the CSR to fit. He is talking about the billet pump fins on the CSR are actually resting on the inside of the pump when bolted up
causing them not to turn at all when power is applied . I had the exact same
problem on my CSR pump so I ground down the fins just enough so they were
free of obstacles . Ive installed the older CSI pumps on LT1s and never seen this problem until the rename CSR .

However, I don't think it was used properly in this case. The word Camaro may have been spelt incorrectly, but CSR did not spelt it that way, they spelled it.

I've done a lot of mods on a lot of cars, I'm a autotech for a living, and it's not that it's that hard, it's really not, but I just feel that it's not a sighn of good quality when you make a part for soemthing, that doesn't fit anything. There is no need for those tabs on the outter side, and the fins need to be adjusted back a few thousands.
It would a customer paying me to do a tuneup on their car and when they get it back it doesn't run and for me to say "well, you have to put the spark plug wires back on" and act as though they are the one's doing something wrong.
Also, it says nothing about the impeller and housing clearance in the directions. Most people wouldn't know until they had it installed. When it's clamped down, it makes no noise and doesn't turn, so most people would manage to overheat thier car and burn out the motor before they knew anything about it. I am glad I tested it with a powerprobe. Most wouldnt' do that though.

Mike I knew you were kidding, I shoulda thrown a smiley in there.
My opinion: Grind the water pump case, not the pump fins. That thing is whizzing around at who knows how many RPM, and balance is key IMO. Take the meat out of the housing, not the fins.

well on my csr pump the impeller backed off the shaft and lodged against the housing damn near overheating my car, good design on their part so that the rotation of the pump unscrews the impeller...
