CSI Waterpump Failure !!!
Re: CSI Waterpump Failure !!!
i have a little over 4,000 miles on my CSI pump....
i've been reading on some of the Mustang drag racer boards (NMRA stuff) that part of electric pump failure is due too using a thermostat. i guess that since a thermostat is temperature activated that while its closed it puts un needed strain on the pumps motor....
they use something like a restrictor plate in their cars rather then a thermostat
which makes sense since an electric pump is constantly pumping, there really is no need for a thermostat
would that have any adverse affects on a street car?

it would take a little longer to warm up, run cooler when the fans come on..not exactly sure though if thats bad...so im kinda wondering the same thing
Re: CSI Waterpump Failure !!!
Holy cow. I can't believe this thread came back after more than a year...
I had almost 35k miles on the CSI when it went poop. It's untelling how many hours due to the fact I spent alot of time running at idle and just poking around doing logs and such on the laptop.

Re: CSI Waterpump Failure !!!
The newest CSR pump has a 10,000 hr ceramic seal on it. It is a drastic improvement over the older design. I've installed it on the water pump, but haven't run it yet. A die grinder helps out a lot for clearancing the housing.
Re: CSI Waterpump Failure !!!
So, can anyone with a csi pump get it fixed? I have at least 20k miles on mine and it has been noisy for a while now so I am keeping an eye on temp. For 60 bucks, I'll send mine in soon.
How do you go about doing it?
