CSI install, do you have to install the Diode when putting in a switch

CSI install, do you have to install the Diode when putting in a switch

it says install this diode, well i dont have a diode nor do i know which one that it. I hooked it up to the ignition and it works fine when the key is turned on, but i also have the switch that he recommened and dont know whether i have to go out and get that diode now.

it just keeps current from flowing back to the fuse box when your switch is ON and your car is OFF. I don't know the schematic of whats in the fuse box and the ignition schematic, but I rather be safe then sorry and get a diode before you hook up the switch. It probably won't hurt anything if you don't have it if i had to bet, but I don't know for sure, if current is drawn back thru the fuse box when the car is off and your switch is on it might not be a good thing.

Radioshack has diodes.
