CSI Electric Waterpump Blowing Fuses, HELP!

Hey,

I just got my wiring done for my CSI Electric Waterpump. I did it just like it has on this webpage http://ken.lowrance.com/projects/CSI...p/Default.htm. The wiring is exact to the schematics on that webpage. The problem I have is that it keeps blowing the 15amp fuse coming from the 12v battery source. I am thinking that the motor in the pump might be bad. Does anyone have any solutions? Need help fast!

Thanks

The motor may very well be bad, but double, triple check the wires. The first CSI I put on my 96 z28 was bad out of the box. It would also blow fuses. Turns out the impellar inside the water pump was spinning off the shaft and was wedging itself against the water pump housing. A quick replacement and no problems. Good luck.

The first one I installed did the same thing. The problem was caused by the impeller making contact with the wp housing. I called jegs and they overnighted me a new one and it worked perfectly. If the retailer doesn't help you out call CSI. I hear their customer service is excellent.

Ok, I found the problem. The impeller is coming in contact with the water pump housing. Should I send it back and get a new one or is there any way I can fix it?

Get a new pump. Contact the retailer first. If they don't help you, call CSI.

You could just note where it's contacting and grind it down just enough that it doesn't.

I know of someone that had same problem. It seems to be common with the CSI so there's a chance you'll just get another one that has the same problem.

I had to grind down the INSIDE lip of the WP housing cause the CSI fan was rubbing against it. I just took a dremel and went to town on the surface. Spins fine now.

You have to grind the wp housing for the "ears" on the CSI unit. You should not have to do any other grinding. In this case he has a defective wp that should be replaced.

Actually, a lot of people have this problem where it contacts inside and you can just grind a little and it will be fine, unless you really want to wait for a new one.
