crunchy sound from tranny or motor or in between.
There seems to be a weird vibrating or almost crunchy sound that occurs when I let out the clutch on my 94 Z M6. It happens when the clutch is fully engaged, it seems to only be a problem in first gear and second occasionally. It sounds metallic and I can feel it in the gear shifter and floor board. Its very slight, but you can definitely hear it. Its like something is loose. If I let out the clutch really really slowly it doesn't do it. Like I said it only happens when fully engaged and only at low RPMs in first between like 1100 to 1800 RPM. But I can't even begin to imagine what it could be. I've never heard a manual do this. Please help before this turns into a big problem. Thanks everyone.
I really don't think its a tranny mount because it doesn't clunk. It might be loose, thats possible. But I've broken my share of tranny mounts and this just isn't the same. It actually sounds too metallic to be exhaust. Almost like gears grinding. Any more suggestions would be great. Thanks guys
I had a bolt come out of my torque converter/flywheel not to long ago. it made kind of a rattle, maybe a crunchy sound. it's pretty easy to check at least, just take off the converter shield and you'll know. might as well check it out, i didn't till to late and the bolt got stuck between the bellhousing and the converter and it cracked the bellhousing.
Can anyone shed more light on this? If it is the pilot bearing that could be a major issue for me. I think the work I had done to my clutch last year is still under warranty so I may be able to get my shop to replace it.
Well in my case. I just bought the car about 2 months ago. And I don't remember it doing it while I was test driving it. When I went to go drive it. It had been sitting for like 2 months. It ran perfect, no noise at all. But I do notice that its not that bad when I first start going in the morning, but once that tranny warms up its awful. I hate to say it but I'm almost definite that its something in the clutch or tranny. The weird thing is that yesterday my car got a little stuck in the snow here. No big deal, just a little forward reverse action to free her up. I did not here it at all in reverse, but when the tires were spinning in first gear in the snow I could here it the whole time. So I know that its nothing to do with the initial load of taking off, cause the tires were just spinning. I hope this makes sense. Anyway I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem. Thanks everyone!
