Guide for CORRECT valve spring install?
Guide for CORRECT valve spring install?
Does anyone know of a guide for this? I noticed the springs come with shims. Obviously, with this in mind, new springs aren't just meant to be dropped in and ran. So what is really involved with a spring install the correct way? Thanks in advance.
I only have time for a quick post. CompCams has a nice website for good tutorial info in general. There is also a good book on the maket about rebuilding LT1/LT4 engines that just came out late last year.
Assuming you have the "right" springs for your application, you need to set the correct installed height and spring pressure. You need a barrel mic ($25) to do it well.
Others can provide more detail.
