Cruise Control not working
It just quit working all of the sudden. It worked fine that morning and didn't that evening. I checked continuity and voltage on the fuse, brake switch, cruise control switches, and wiring through the steering column. The cruise control module was plugged in and the cable linkage was ok. The only thing I didn't know how to check was the speed sensor on the tranny but it is plugged in. I have a 93 Z28.
Also I think my oil guage is messed up. One day I accidently left the switch on for several hours and when I looked at the oil gauge it was waaay past 80. Now whenever I first start the car it does that and then goes back down. The only problem is the readings are much higher than they used to be and it isn't as sensitive at is was. And when I shut the car off the gauge won't go back to zero anymore; it sits at about 20 or so.
I would appreciate any help.

Re: Cruise Control not working
same deal with me. Called the dealership today and asked them for some suggestions and he said make sure all my brake lights are working. I was thinking yea whatever that's dumb but sure enough my third brake light was causing the problem. I changed the blown out bulbs and everything runs fine. Dang Haynes manual only shows a "typical" cruise control system on the electrical syemactics. Note to self: don't trust Haynes manual.
At least it wasn't something major. I figure it's like Chevy's way of making sure you keep your brake lights working.
Thank you

Re: Cruise Control not working
Both the cruise control and ABS will be disabled with a bad third brake light. It may be that way since both use the brakes to either enable or disable them. I came to realize it when I bought a new ss wing for the back hatch. It came with an LED third light which the computer does not see as a "bulb". Once I added a relay so the coil would simulate a bulb, it all came back to normal.

Re: Cruise Control not working
Some people find replacing the turn signal shaft on the steering column fixes it. I guess they might go bad over time. Also might want to check the connectors on the pedals
Re: Cruise Control not working
My cruise doesn't work either. It blows fuses everytime i put a new one in, instantly. I never use cruise anyway...but it bugs me not having something work on my car.

I replaced the turn signal shaft on mine to fix the cruise problem.
