Cruise control button on brake peddle.

Anyone know if it's much of a job to replace the cruise control buttons on the clutch and brake peddle? How about what years I can get one from at a junk yard for a 1995 z?

Why are you wanting to replace them? i assume your cruise doesn't work anymore or rarely does, correct?

Yes, it works about 50% of the time. When it does work if you hit a bump it goes off sometimes. I tightened one of them up about a year ago (only drive it in the summer) and it solved the problem for a good while. When I tightened it up I think I over tightened it because it made a crack sound as I finished.

Wonder what would happen if you just got rid of it and bypassed it, then you would have to manually switch off the cruise....if it's anything like getting to the switch for the clutch to start the car, it's not too bad, just awkward on your back to get in there.

I was just asking because the early LT1's have faulty cruise control modules that read to much brake light voltage. I just got done replacing mine. GM put out a TSB on the problem.

Re: Cruise control button on brake peddle.

Dealer replaced modual about 4 years ago. Was yours going off when you would hit bumps on the freeway? I'm assuming that the dealer replaced unit with updated unit that is why I'm leaning towards the switch on the peddle that and the fact that when I tightened it up once it seemed to fix the problem for a while. I haven't looked at it in a while but from what I remember it seems like changing out the switch would just be a matter of pulling it out of the clips and uplugging it then replacing it. I was just trying to find someone who has done it so I could get a heads up. Also would like to get one from a junk yard so, I need to know what years and makes ie. comaros,z's,monte carlos, impalas ect.

I got it fixed. The switch on the break peddle was just loose.
