Where can I get an LT1 or LT4 crate engine? Either way, I want to get it bored into a 355. I want to either find an engine and get the machine work done seperately or find a place that can sell me the engine and do the work too. I tried Combination Motorsports, but they said they were revamping their engine store, and wouldnt be selling them right now. I was planning on a rebuild, but I would rather just buy another engine and sell my old one.

You can also get a new 4 bolt main short block from them for $1750

 

There is no reason to wast your money, just rebuild the block you have. There would no advantage in buying a new block, if you need four bolt mains convert them. What are your goals and how much dollars do you wanna spend? IS there anything wrong with the motor? A used lt1 is only worth 500bucks.

Just pull the heads and have them worked good, buy a cam and be done. If you need more put the gas on it, and have a low 11sec car.

 

I'm not sure about my goals really. I know a 355 would be cheaper, but I would want to have either a 355 or 383. As far as hp goes, I'd like to be in the 450 hp range. For money, I don't want to go overboard. Wouldn't wanna go over $5000 if I have to. I don't really know how much stuff like this costs. All I know is I want the engine(355 or 383) with p+p heads, comp cam(cc305 or 306 maybe?) and upgrades like longtubes, gears, maybe nitrous to get up to 400 something hp.
