doing a transmission swap... about to take the tranny out, when it hit me... WHAT GEAR DO I PUT THE SHIFTER IN for the de-installation and the re-installation??!?!?!?


park? neutral?


HELP QUICK!!!

we're waitind to do this right now and its gonna rain later today

just put it in neutral. so you can get the rear u joint caps unbolted. then put it in park. ive done too many of these cars to count.. have fun..

It doesn't really matter, as long as you're not messing around with the cable adjuster. GM installs the shifter and trans in Park, FWIW.

Just unbolt it from the trans. You can't put it back on wrong.

Stick it in nuetral if it concerns you, but I honestly don't think you'll have a problem. When we dropped my friends it was in park, when I dropped mine, on the IROC it was in nuetral, no problems either time.
