Crap! Help me make the right decision on this fix
diclaimer...this is an opti question, but deserves to be in advance becuase of all the variables etc...just read please
I have a all forged 355 with a procharger on it. These are the things pertenant to my decision
Cloyes double roller timing chain
Cam with 214/224 .576/.606 lift
CC 977 springs (over 400 lbs of open seat pressure)
Fast reving motor
Now i developed a squeek about ~500 miles into my setup(everything new) i trouble shooted and posted and found the noise was identical to this guys problem Witch turned out to be the opti was not setting on the cloyes right. apaerantly it was the opti bearings went out.
Well his fix was a diferent timing chain, and new opti.
i have had the noise for appox ~1000 miles and over the last 100miles its started surging (and doing stuff optis have done to me before in my previous 3 optis) and then today if was running like azz and smoking alot under throttle (black)
So i need a new ignition. I belive my options are:
1 new opti ($200) and replace every 1000-2000 miles underwarranty
2 new opti and stock timing set. Should i was my cam and spring pressures?
3 new opti and new timing set ($350?)
4. LTCC and coil packs....but then again, this still uses the opti? and it the opti bearing are jacked then this wont work
5. intake drill destributer. Seen a couple guys do this. Couple not find any info in a search. can i still use OBd1? or does this also get rid of the computer?
I want it to work well, be reliable and be cheap. i have already spent $15k on my car in the past 2 years and dont wanna put another dime in
Thanks, i will be in the garage pulling out the opti
