Crankshaft question...
Re: Crankshaft question...
Wow thats really obvious that was not done by GM... Defently have the shop make sure everything is good with it and have it balanced. Unless you want parts to be breaking on the bottom of your engine from improper balance....
Re: Crankshaft question...
Got a crank from Ken today and it looks just like my stocker. Quick polish and it should be good to go.
And I installed a new pilot bushing as soon as I got home so I didn't forget
Pleasure to meet you Ken, wish I had my Z28 up there with you earlier! Hopefully we will meet again at a get together or maybe the dream cruise next year.
Thanks!

Best of luck with the re-build too!
Re: Crankshaft question...
I called Hastings about those rings and they are not file fit, which would explain why they're all within spec already.
Also, don't forget to "de-carbon" those piston tops with spray GUMOUT, and de-burr the piston skirts, as we discussed also!
Re: Crankshaft question...
Yep, just as we discussed last evening, file fit rings would NEVER be that "loose" to start with ........ another engine building "mystery" solved!
