crankshaft pulley???? NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, ive been having this squeling/whistling noise for some time, and ive posted twice before. Well, i finally tried to figure it out again. I was hoping it was the tensioner pulley or another one of the pulleys. I took the belts off, started the car and the sounds was still there. I had a friend get under the car and check it out and he was pretty sure it was coming from the crankshaft pulley, or around it.... What could be causing this annoying noise? It comes and goes, usually when the car is cold i cant hear it, but once it warms up it makes the noise. When i drop below 1500 RPM's it usually stops or is alot quieter, but once i give throttle it comes back again. Can it be a bearing in the crankshaft or does it just need oil on the pulley??? im clueless and need to know!!!

It could be the crank bolt is loose and you spun the balancer on the crank and or is still spinning.

I spun one years ago but I was pushing 12# of boost off of it.

Recently had one loosen on a 396 car. took a while to find but once we got it tightened back down all was well again.

Good luck!

I just had the same problem occur on my car. I would seriously check your crank bolt.

is it possible the water pump bearing is going? since the wp is cam driven it would still be turning with the belt off right?

might be a good time to upgrade to a CSI or Mezere

It's probably your belt tensioner pulley. Just remove and replace.

i checked the tensioner pulley...I had no belt on the car and started it. The tensioner pulley wasnt moving but the sound was still present. Im almost positive its the crankshaft pulley... Im gonna try that first, and if there is no luck, then im gonnna go waterpump. I had the waterpump replaced maybe only 8000 miles ago...
