Crankshaft hub install

Anyone know of a quick method of installing the hub to the crankshaft? I've been trying and it only goes on so far and then it's like I'm fighting to turn the socket, so it can be sucked up to the snout. Is their a special tool I'm misssing. Please help!!!!

make sure the crank key is sitting in the crankshaft correctly, and make sure the slot in the hub lines up with the key.

it's a press-on. But has a hard time going on. And yes I've already put a micrometer to the snout and to the inside of the new hub. They are tolerenced correctly per chevy info.

You don't want to pull the hub in place with the bolt; you risk stripping the threads in the crank Purchase a threaded rod, thread the rod into the crank threads until it bottoms out. Use a washer and nut to drive the hub onto the crank snout. Lubricate the washer to reduce friction.

LT1's don't use keyed hubs from the factory.

Re: Crankshaft hub install

I prefer not to bottom out the threaded rod because sometimes there is enough friction between the nut and the rod that it will still try to spin the rod. Weld a nut on to the end of the rod to hold it or buy two extra nuts and tighten them down against each other on the end of the rod and you can hold onto that.

Re: Crankshaft hub install

Thanks to all who put in the info needed. My new hub is now installed. Just need to do a few more things before I start it up and make sure it spins perfectly. But the ****ing thing is on now.
