cranks, sparks but wont start
cranks, sparks but wont start
I put in a new opti, thought it was all lined up right. It cranks, sparks but wont start. So I try to take out the old dowel of the engine and put in the new one that came with the new opti and it wont come out as if it was jammed in First any ideas how to get this out and second what could it be if it sparks and cranks? Thanks in advance.

What was the code? Since your car is a obd1 computer. It really dosent have codes for the opti misfiring. Is that how he thought it was the opti? Check your firing order and fuses. Make sure your getting gas also. Also make sure the wire to the opti plug is in good shape. Where did you get the new Opti from?

For that code...that can be your opti, but it should still run as it will use the low res to run. Check your grounds. Besides that it should work if you checked everything else and its fine. Where did you get the opti from? You can have a bad optical sensor on the opti. It can still give spark , but not a great spark or enough. What color is the spark?

I wouldn't start looking at fuel problems. Just to make sure press the s-valve at the back of the intake manifold there is a little cap on it just take it off and press in the release fuel should squirt out. Do that with the car off, if it shoots out a little you know you've got some pressure. Thats not very accurate way to go about it, but I seriously doubt its a fuel problem if you changed the opti and now it won't start.
I would check the plugs to see if they are in the right firing order, replace the coil, coil plug it leads to the opti(thats like 17 dollars total at autozone), and make sure you aligned the cam shaft pin correctly into the opti.
On the opti there are 3 areas where it looks like the peg can fit, just stick it into the most irregular shaped slot and press in the opti.
