Crank sensor probs....

Just finished an install for someone that included a rebuilt shortblock (stock), gm 847 cam, mild heads and full bolt ons with a del-teq. My question is the customer says he is certain that the opti was bad (and thats why he put the del-teq on) when he installed the del teq. The way I understand it is that the opti has to be in good working condition for the del teq to operate properly (correct me if I'm wrong). So we get the car running and scan it with efi live and its throwing a "crankshaft sensor out of range performance" code. I am trying to narrow this code down. The engine feels real sluggish, and one bank is running extremely rich. When it gets to temp it starts to idle bad and sometimes it will die. Definately has a hesitation when you first give it throttle. Also when the car is running and I lift it up I can unplug the crankshaft position sensor and it doesn't affect the way it runs at all. Is this normal?

Does anybody have any advice/ideas on this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Crank sensor probs....

If you have a test light go from the pink wire(on the ckp wiring harness) to battery ground.

If it lights go from the pink wire to the ground wire on the harness.

Re: Crank sensor probs....

The cps has no bearing on how the motor runs, it just indicates missfire which is an OBDII requirement. Also the cps is at the crank nose not in the opti. With regards to the opti beeing healthy for the delteq, yes and no...the opti sensor part has to be healthy for both low and high res signals, the cap and rotor part is not needed.
