Crank hub removal

How do you get the crank hub to come off? I am using a 3 gawl puller. I have a clap holding the fly wheel still. I just can't seem to get the thing to move unless I beat the holy heck out of a wrench to get the puller to turn. If you have any sugguestion feel free to let me know.

Thanks

Well, you might try letting it soak overnight with some rust dissolving spray. Be careful not to strip out the puller. I've stripped one out using a hammer and wrench before

You are probably pushing off of the hub itself. You have to push off of the crank. What I mean is the treaded part of the puller has to fit through the bolt hole of the hub and push off of the crank. Haven't seen a puller (other than a home made one) that can do that yet. So, what I use is a 6" long 1/4" ratchet extension. Put the square end in first. Make sure it bottoms out inside the crank hole. Then center your puller on the other end of the extension. Works great!!! Hope this helps.

had the same prob man, was breaking puller bolts and everything, i did what Whatsup did and put a 1/4 inch extension in with the attachement end coming out at u, then tried the puller again with the puller dead in the center and it came out with no fuss. BTW, wouldnt be a bad idea to buy a new crank hub after ur ordeal. They are pretty cheap so might as well go pick one up. good luck

YAHHHHH!

Thanks guys. I found a long bolt around 1/4 size and used it to crank against slowly and the hub just eased right off.

Thanks for the help.
