Crank Hub Q's

I have a 95 z28 been looking for a crank hub and balancer for almost six months now and i finally got one off ebay. after inspecting it i noticed my hub had 5 punch wholes and this one had 2. All Numbers match and i was just wondering is this just how they came factory? It also looks like my hub is shimmed and this one is not will this affect anything upon installation. Re: Crank Hub Q's

The holes are just for zero balancing the unit and every one is going to be a little different. What do you mean by "shimmed"?

Yea thats what i kept telling myself but if you look at the second pic u can see a metal lip around the hub where it gets pressed on. I just dont understand what it is because the new one doesnt have it and there both stock im thinking the 1st time i ever had the car worked on(B4 i started getting my hands dirty) they did the front seals and may of added this to the crank hub.

Ok, that is a sleeve that repairs (covers) grooves made in the surface sealing area of the hub. It was added as a repair later on in its life.

Re: Crank Hub Q's

I'd polish it with some fine emery cloth and solvent and make sure there's no rust pits where the seal rides on it, then clean up the inside bore rust and make sure there's no ridges in there. Put a new crank seal in the timing cover and you should be good to go.

Your new hub looks in good shape, therefore no sleeve needed. Follow Kevin's advice above.
