Crank Hub?

I just ripped my 95 LT1 motor apart that I am rebuilding for my 91 Camaro. Well the motor is fried. No thrown rods but the crank is fubar and likely going to need a .040 over bore just get those cylinders looking pretty again. I am likely going with a 383 kit since its not much more than replacing what needs fixing in my motor. Extra $200 for 33 cubes seems reasonable to me. My problem is this balancer hub. This is my first LT1 motor and well since I will be putting this hub onto a new crank, how do I know where to put it since its not keyed or does it not make a difference. So some help here would be appreciated.

Re: Crank Hub?

There is a reference mark on the hub that goes at 12 o'clock when the #1 and #6 piston are at TDC.

Re: Crank Hub?

Well that doesn't sound too difficult but I could still be 1 or 2 degrees off.

yeah, but it doesn't matter, you can't adjust the timing, and it is just a damper, not a balancer(neutral balance)

if you really want, you can buy a keyed hub

Yes the damper is neutral balanced. Doesn't matter how it goes on. From the factory LT1 engines are internally balanced in the front and externally in the rear via flywheel.
