Crank hub

How do you go about putting the crank hub back on? I put it on as tight as I could but it looks about a half inch from where it should be.

I put the belt on and it looks like it's pulling towards the front of the car a little so I guess I have to put the hub on farther. How do I go about doing this?

Also should I connect the top or the bottom of the steering linkage first?

Thanks for the help guys, once I get these things out of the way I can fire up my first head+cam car.

Are you putting the same hub back on the same engine? Why I ask is the hub is a different length 93-95 versus 96-97. The 96-97 is shorter as the reluctor gear inside the timing chain cover acts like a spacer.

I find it easier to connect the top of the steering linkage first, then the bottom. You'll need to play with the lock down position of the top to best clear your exhaust. Hopefully you've locked your steering wheel in place so you don't destroy for airbag coil harness (I found out the hard way) by excessively turning the wheel with the linkage disconnected.

thread the crank bolt in and start tightening it down, it will pull the hub almost up to where it needs to be

then you need to hold it somehow to finish it up so it can be torqued down to 74ft-lbs

I believe there is a thick washer/spacer that mounts on the end of the crank center bolt. If you're not using the space, the bolt may be bottoming out before the crank is fully seated.
