Crane roller rocker adjustments
Starting to loose hope with these....
I adjusted all the roller rockers with the car running. I then tighted the poly locks with the allen key tight. Put everything back. Drove around for about an hour... the car ran nice no problems... after about an hour i heard a knock from one of the rockers. Why did it come loose??? Did i tighten the poly locks down too much? These are the Crane Gold Self-aligning 1.6 roller rockers. I'm running stock springs (only 26k miles on car) and pushrods.

Last night i had to pull the valve cover off for the 5th time. One rocker got loose... extremely loose... the nut just comes off the rocker and its totally free. I took the allen key and i brought the inner screw up... tightened it again... brought the allen all the way down again. (Am i suppose to bring the little allen plug in the rocker's nut down all the way tight?)
Now i drove the car for about 30 minutes and i started getting major ticking again. I drove pretty far away from home and i had to drive for 10 minutes with the ticking. The check engine light came out and the car ran horrible. I'm going to pull the valve covers off again today and see if it was the same one that got loose. I got the adjusting part down now but why are they coming loose on me!???!??!?!?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ok, are you using a hand allen wrench or a ratchet? if your doing it by hand, go to sears and pick up a ratchet. Pull the valve covers, loosen all the allen bits on the rockers. Now loosen the hex bolts on the rockers then tighten them hand tight. Start the car. Hand tighten all the hex bolts until you don't hear any clicking. Now tighten them 1/4 or 1/2 whatever your rockers say to do on the hex bolt on all of them. You can now shut the car off or leave it on. Now tighten the **** out of the allen bits with the ratchet. I gaurantee they will not come loose.
Actually that's what i have been doing and it wasn't the way it was suppose to be according to a website i found. The website said to tighten the hex down until it doesn't tick and then 1/4.... then it said to tighten the allen bolt down with the allen key. After the allen bolt is tight then tighten the hex another 1/4 turn. It says that that causes pressure from the allen screw unto the hex nut and keeps it locked in place. It did it this morning and drove the car around for about 2 hours and everything is running fine
