Crane 270-10308-1
Yeah, I'd have to say that isn't a good thing... Is there a better kit? I am buying some in the next 24 hours, so I'm cramming trying to learn something about them. lol I just liked that because it was a complete kit and was very reasonable.
no track times yet. Had to get a stall before I could hit the track with it. I will say however it is quite a good cam for street and strip. i have done a few runs on dead highways with itand it seems to get the job done with plenty to spare.
Then explain why all my valve springs were wedged sideways when I had that kit on my car. Our cars come stock with valve seats, this kit is a downgrade from stock. You can use the comp spring seats for 1.5 od springs and grind a little bit off the seats and they will fit perfectly.
If installed properly they should not walk around on the heads. Only way I can see that happening is if you use guideplates and different locks then the kit supplies, and your valvetrain geometry is off. The shims are thin because the spring is taller then stock, and they give them the correct installed height.
I run the 10308 set with a custom grind bigger then the 503, with crane gold SA 1.6rrs, and have not had a problem in a year of using them in my DD that gets strip time.

I have never heard a problem with the Crane 10308 Spring Kit, nor have I had one with mine and a CC306 w/ 1.6 NSA Pro Mags. Its a very good spring kit in my opinion, especially for the price. I'd use it with a XE503, it also gives you some room to grow.
