Crane 227 cam

Crane 227 cam
I would like to know if anybody has the Crane 227 camshaft? I have a 1994 Formula A4 car. I heard that this was a good cam by Bryan Herter of PCM for less. I would like to know if it has a good idle, good vaccuum for power brakes and accessories, and good power for an everyday driver that doesn't race at the track much.

I assume you are referring to the Crane 104227, otherwise known as the "baby cam"
Specs: Intake 319 w/ 1.6 = 510
Exhaust 345 W/1.6 = 552
Duration at .050 210/224
Formerly Powermax 2033 (compucam 2033)
Very easy to tune for.
Good low to mid-range power
6000 RPM cam.
Kind of an RV cam. Good for heavier vehicles.
Real stump puller.
Have seen on this site 11s with this cam.
Drivability like stock.

Let me qualify that: I have a 97SS M-6, heads, headers, 4.10s, 52MM TB, March pulleys (just the usual crap along with the "baby cam" and pcmforless tuning.
Drives like a stocker, but provides me with delightful acceleration. You can always go just a bit larger and maintain drivability. I happen to like the 14deg. sep on the duration and the big lift on the exhaust. I.e., I like the idea of having a 4000 lb stomp puller in a 3700 lb car.
But to each his/her own.
