Does anyone have a problem with a cracking noise when they start their car? This seems to happen when the car has been turned on and off a couple of times during the day never for the first start of the day! I let the lot have it for the day and naturally it didnt do it for them. Engine rebuilder not connected with G.M. told me that some times when they stamp the cylinders one of them may be a bit bigger or smaller. My question is how can i get the dealer to put more time in to it or any suggestions on what it might be? Is it doing any damage?

Maybe it is piston slap? I believe a few LT1s have this problem. Ask your mechanic about it or maybe some here can elaborate
