Cowl or custom ram-air hood (i have both, need your opinion)
Ok my car had an SLP WS6 hood on the car when i bought it. It was pretty smashed up so i ended up buying the new Stinger cowl hood rather than fix it. Last week I decided to fix the hood i had, and decided i would modify it as well to make it a better ram air hood.
The water baffles have been removed, and so has the divider. The opening has also been widened. You can see where it has been repaired on the left sid of the inlet. The Fiberglass was cracked so bad there, i had to reinforce it with alot of body filler. I was afraid it would tear off at high speeds.
Here are pictures of the Ram-Air hood i made.

And Here are the pictures of the Cowl hood i have.

The car has a cheap Ebay Cold air intake so i would need to replace that. My question is should i buy the SLP Air box kit for $280 and use the Ram-Air hood, or should i buy a good Cold Air Intake for $200 and use the Cowl hood? I was thinking the Ram-Air hood would be better since it's a straight through ram-air setup, and because the MAF would be closer to the TB which is better for throttle response.
Thanks for looking,
Shawn

Yeah i forgot to add the Ram-Air hood is just primer right now. i plan on doing the inlet black, and the underside of the hood black.

I cut the water baffles out so i can run the Ram Air without a ram air intake or water will blow directly on my opti when it rains. Thanks for the comments though. I am going to go with the ram air. I am painting the inside black though, it doesnt look right white.

Ram Air one looks much better, more clean cut. The other one looks like it has too much going on in one spot. Nothing like an UltraZ Pontiac style.

Thanks man. It still needs to be painted, but i think it will look ok. On the outside it's even but the inlet is pretty noticeable. In the repair process you can see the reason i had to build it up so much.
