I just recently bought an intake off a guy down the road, but I just notice that the cover on the bottom(I think its part of the pcv system) of the intake is missing. Is it necessary to have it?

 

it helps keep oil out of your PVC system and off the bottom of the manifold, too - you should probably have it on there

 

What is the actual name for this part? Does anyone know where or who I can buy one from?

I have for a long time and always will go to Jason Chromer at http://www.samtaylor.com Call the parts department and tell them what you want. Best quality OEM parts at the lowest prices your going to get and the shipping is cheap and fast. Usually runs 5 to 8 bucks for shipping at the most. I've gone to the local chevy dealer before and they priced out a part that they say is no longer available that Jason dug up some old inventory and found the part, sold and shipped it to me for half the price of my local dealer.
