Couldn't make ET streets stick today
Here is my best slip. Previous best in sig.
13.557 @ 103.25 mph w/ 2.074 60'
I was constantly in the 2.3-2.4 range though. This was my first time using them, the track wasnt all that great and it was 40 degrees out but I still thought that with as little power as I have that they would stick better. Even on that run I could feel them slip. I know this car should be good for a solid 1.9
I think I have problems heatin them up. I roll in and then out of the waterbox, then sometimes I bounce off the limiter or it shifts into second and it seems the tires arent moving that much cus it is at like 3k rpm until i let off the brake and they bake then. This was my first time using them so I guess I need practice. Any suggestions?

I run 13-15 psi in mine depending on track conditions. And look into a Line Lock to help you heat up the tires I dont have any problems heating them up with or without the line lock.I just put mine in 2nd(A4) and mash the gas untill it spins into 2nd @4k and when it starts droping in rpm's I let off the gas..or let of the line lock. most say let off the gas first to avoid suden hooks and rear damage...
MT ET streets
Drop the tire pressure to 22 psi.
You don't need the water box, but if you do back in roll out about 5 feet and heat um up about 5 to 8 seconds.
Then and this is very important, let off the brake until it starts to grab, when you get full traction as you approach the tree let off the gas and stage. I never used the water box on ET streets only my Hoosier full slicks and do the same procedure. Burning the tires to the tree is the key to a good launch.
Oh, if you get around 400 hp your going to have problems launching anyway. Your supension is gong to need upgrading and throw that front sway bar as far as you can pitch it! That leads to better transfer weight. You could just loosen it up but some guys have actually lost it because the forget to tighten it back up.
Good Luck,
Jim

That sounds good. Sorry I forgot the psi. I was running them initially at 20 psi and then I dropped them to 15 psi to help.
Damn, I thought I needed the waterbox. This was my first time with them so all the help is appreciated. 5-8 seconds, is that only using the waterbox or doing a dry burnout too? Don't wait for any smoke or anything?
Thanks for the tips, this will help for next time. Trial and error is easier when you have an idea of what to do.
I have SFCs and LCAs at home so that should help things after I get them installed too.
EDIT: I think I will get rid of that sway bar too. How is everyday driving without it?

I think i got lucky and bought a factory freak. The first time i took it to the track i was hoping for low 14's and ran 13.6 @99mph, 2.00 60'....bone stock, full weight, on street tires. A friend of mine has the same mods i do and cant break into the 13's.
Ive got a buddy running 13.005 at 106ish with cutout, CAI, and tuning.
BUt thats besides the point.
When i run ET streets at the track i cant ever get them hot enough unless i use the water box.
In a 6 speed car i can light them up dry in 2nd, but they start to get a little warm and "push out"
When I use the box I can drop it in third, get them really hot, and then roll all the way out to the line and go.
If you dont have the gears however to get them spinning really fast in the h20 box, your best bet is to go dry.

I always use the waterbox. The purpose is to help the tires break loose more easily on the throttle hit which is much easier on parts. With my auto I start is 1st and shift to 2nd. When I had a manual I did a second gear burnout.
Count to five or until you feel the contact start to increase and the release the line lock or brake and roll ahead to the line so you pick up only minimal track debris. Ease out of the throttle so you don't shock the driveline when thinks stick.
Line up in a clean spot that is not shiny.
You don't have gobs of power so unless the track really sucks I can't understand why you don't hook.
I have ET Streets, disconnected front sway bar, 90-10 shocks in front, and an airbag in the rear along with Eibach drag launch springs. I still have the stock rear shocks and stock torque arm.

I thought the same thing about not having much power and they should stick no matter what.
I used the waterbox but got yelled at when I started doing the burnout actually in the waterbox. He said I was dragging water all the way to the line.
So he told me to roll into it and then out and that is it.
Something I think may be playing into it is I think my rear shocks may be going or gone too. I keep hearing clunking and squeaking over bumps.

I was thinking the same thing. The sun wasnt even out to heat up the surface at all and b/c it was so cold there were hardly any people there so I think they skimped on prepping the track. I will definitely have to see what they do on about a 60 degree day with sunshine. I want to at least see 1.9s
Thanks for all the help.
