Could water kill my opti this quick

ok, I just rebuilt the engine last fall, and put coilpacks on it. for two days it ran great, til the trans blew. It sat in my garage over the winter, I started it once a week and it sounded great. Finally took it to a trans shop...

I would like to stop and point out the fact that I normally would never allow a shop, espescally a trans shop do work that I am perfectly capible of doing. the situation was that I was like 80 miles away from my car and work 60 hours a week. Besides the condition for using my parents garage was that the car stay(somewhat) mobile. There I feel better.

Anyway... I can't believe they let it roll off the lot. My dad drove it home, and called me to tell me that it sounded aweful. when I got home the next day, I was getting Lo-res code's and can't even get the thing to start.

it was slightly wet under the hood. I called the shop and they said they took it to a car wash. could that damage the opti? 1 time?

I even silicone sealed that thing when I put it back on

That's weird. I siliconed up mine too and it has been completrely submerged and never had a problem. I guess you had better poull it apart and see what is going on.

i really dont think it should do that from taking it to a car wash, i think they did something else there not telling you, because i work in a detail shop and spray my engine with a pressure washer and have done that many times and if they dosent ruin the opti a car wash def. shouldnt.....

A bad / corroded opti electrical harness can kill it (blue crystals in there).. or a Bad Vacuum harness can allow full manifold pressure and distort the opti and kill it.

Lol, yeah, i've never heard of ANY shop bringing a car to a carwash before, let alone spending money to wash your car. Secondly, I would be even more pissed at the simple fact that they washed it! I am the only one who will ever touch my car when it comes to washing. Especially under the hood. I would have thrown a fit. And what the hell were they doin under the hood at the car wash anyway??? That doesn't get dirty from droppin the tranny! But besides that, even if they did wash the engine, I don't think that would cause a new opti to go bad. I could see an old one going bad, but a new one with new seals, I don't think so. But still... if something got wet from when they "washed it" it would be their fault. They never had permission to wash it. For all they know, you might have had something still apart under there or something, idk. Again, I would be heated. Raise hell, dude.
