Could this problem deal with 87 unleaded?

Saturday i decided to kick my car down at about 75 mph, when the rpms hit about 4800-5000 rpm it started missing and sputtering real bad, then i put it in neutral and revved it up and it didnt do it, so i decided to kick it again at 75, it did the same thing all 3 times i kicked it, so i let dad drive it sat nite and he filled it up with 93 octane, and it didnt miss or sputter on him, i havent drove the car yet to try it with 93, but could this be the gas or some sort of ignition, fuel problem????

Why would you put 87 in to begin with? My lawnmower uses that

Yeah, why did you put 87 in?

87 has less resistance to autoignition which is not good in a high compression motor such as the LT1.

so ~8 gallons of gas, what did you save yourself, a dollar?

I bet your car runs crappy and you use an extra 1/2 gallon of gas anyways.

You gotta pay to play man

It even says in the owners manual not to put less than 91 octane in the car or it will do just what you described your car was doing.....I dont even like putting 91 in mine, but thats all they have in Missouri...minus the ONE Amoco with 92. I am used to the 93 back home in Chitown! Damn these rednecks!

Angry

First of all, the problem occured because someone that is stupid enough to use 87 in a high compression vehicle is driving it. If you are broke park the car and car pool. Buy a beater for $ 1000 and buy all the 87 that you want. But before you ruin a perfectly good vehicle by being stupid, sell the car to someone that will appreiciate it and treat it right.

Cool

High compression LT1 needs high octane to reduce detonation. With low octane, you will cause stumbling, hesitation, and will actually use MORE gas than with 93.

Most i've gotten out of a tank of 87 was 100 miles. After full mods I still get 200 miles to a tank of 93

Try it once. Use 87, record mileage, use 93 and record mileage. You'll be surprised

87 octane??? Come on now man, why are you even posting this question??? Your car probably hates you, and if it could talk or express itself it would slap you. If you put premium in from now on it might forgive you.
