Could this be normal? (MAF)
Alright this doesn't seem right at all to me. But here is a little somthing I found the other day. Well I noticed the other day while inspecting the engine while it was idleing. I boped the MAF, and chugged for a second, then went back to normal. Checked the Scanmaster, it reports the DTC for MAF. So I'm like hmm. Start the back up. Bop it again, and it does it again.
So I check the connection, and its fine, no rust or corroision, and wires look fine.
So is the MAF that sesitive, that it will do that, or is this a sign that the MAF sensor it self has issues?
This would explain the 3 times the car just died out on me for no reason over the years.
Just wanted to get some info from you folks before I look into getting an other one.

What code was it throwing? If it was the P0100, then that means that it was probably loosing power to the MAF. I had the same exact problem, whenever I would touch the harness, the motor would kind of chug and then go back to normal but with the code thrown. It ended up being the acutal harness was bad so I spliced in a new harness and problem solved!

I have a Haynes service manual, and it states that to test the MAF that you should tap the side of the black plastic body. A stumble will indicate a bad MAF if it does not do anything it is ok. Sounded like a stupid test to me but maybe yours is bad?

What year is your car (why not include basic info in your signature, so people don't have to ask?)?
The 97's in particular seem to have a problem with the pink wire that provides +12V to the MAF sensor. It breaks somewhere back in the harness. The fix is generally to run a new wire from the fuse to the sensor. The problem also seems to be showing up in 96's now. But seldom seems to happen in the 94/95 cars.

I'll try wiggling the wires. If it does end up being the culprit, where do i get that plug at?
Thanks for the help guys.

You can get them at the dealership. I got mine for like $30 but there may be somewhere cheaper that you can get it on here. It came with the harness, and like 2 feet of wire and some butt connectors. Hope that helps!

Well here is the update. I went ahead and wiggled each of the wires going to the maf pigtail. And nothing happend, it didn't stumble at, and seemed fine. Looks like it only happens when I tap the actual MAF it self.
So my guess is it's probably the unit it self right? Is GMpartsdirec.com probably the best price?
Thanks for the help guys.
